why is slowear so fastpriced?

Every time I enter a slowear shop I can fill that the BS (B&S too) 'force' is strong

hundreds of £/$s for chinos that are then sold for peanuts on B&S? Who are the real monkeys in this story? The ones in the shop or the ones on B&S- or maybe both

Even at their factory, which is local here, the prices are still very high.

When I was growing up in New York decades ago "provincial cities" such as Chicago
and Cleveland were dismissed as "list price" towns. Agressive discounting, even of luxury goods,
is an established New York tradition and this has spread to online vendors based everywhere.
Several puchases I made on line of very high-end tailored clothing last year included "free"
Incotex and/or mabitex chinos, undoubtedly sourced from places likre Daffy's. Such slacks
would cost several hundred at my local (San Francisco) retailers.
