EIDOS FW16 PRE-ORDERS

PART 1 : FIELD JACKETS





This coat needs no introduction, it's the fantastic field jacket designed by Antonio, that can work easily from a pretty cool look over a suit or sport coat, down to a casual jeans and sweater look.

None of the fabrics we chose were sampled so you will have to use your imagination when looking at the swatches

We chose 5 fabrics with Antonio, and while a photo of a swatch conveys little, please know that it was a long process of elimination of many great swatches to get to those - all five are really awesome, with very different hands, weights and textures.

Note that all the jackets will have tonal buttons - no high contrast button colors.

PART 2 : HUNTING JACKETS








Eidos's interpretation of the Maremma jacket, a classic of Florentine outerwear. First used by Tuscan cowherds as a bird-hunting jacket, its style and extremely sturdy fabric guaranteed easy movement as well as protection and comfort in the open air. Antonio's version keeps the concept of the game pockets and he designed the jacket with harmonious long lines.

There again, none of the fabrics we chose were sampled (except for the shearling) so you will have to use your imagination when looking at the swatches

We chose 5 fabrics with Antonio, and all five are great. In keeping with the spirit of the coat, all fabrics tend to be on the weightier side but with varying hands and textures. We chose three fabrics that are the same quality of that dense, boiled virgin wool as we sold this season (sold out within days...). It is simply perfect for a Maremma jacket.

In addition, we're also offering - for pre-orders only - the shearling version (Japanese weathercloth cotton outer and full shearling lining)

Note that, here again, all the jackets will have tonal buttons - no high contrast button colors.

The Massimo: bomber with tonal knit collar, cuffs, and hem, and unique strap closure. Available in brown or black. $905, so a 50% deposit of $452.50 or $362 after code PREORDER discount at checkout. Quality will not be going down but the designs are taking a slight change in direction - not necessarily for the bad.

The new owner is another men's garment manufacturer and they have more resources on the design and development side. They're taking the brand into a more modern realm while trying to keep the DNA (particularly emphasizing the original rainwear history). So you'll see classic wool, tweeds and suede fabrics on the outside but with better performance construction (membrane bonding, taped seams) on the inside to make the garment a bit lighter and more wearable in various conditions.

The designing is more purposeful and coherent, rather than a collection of cool fabrics. There's a logical set of pieces from shorter bombers to trenches, in a thought-out color palette. It feels like a collection.

We weren't disappointed at all.

SAMUEL GASSMANN - SPECIAL PROJECT







Samuel agreed to open up a special opportunity for our customers to order his new series of domino inspired black/white cufflinks, with the numbers that you want on them. They're really lovely cufflinks in bone and ebony with a silver link, and quite versatile with a black side and a white side depending on what you're wearing them with.

We're opening up a window for those orders until next week (Feb 26) and then we'll organize all the orders and numbers for him and send the master order to Paris. It will take about two months for him to craft them and ship them to us.

Just like last season, here's an opportunity to order your size and in a color you want. This time, I'm showing a greater range of colors for each fabric quality, including a bunch we won't be carrying off the rack - to give greater choice to those who know their Rota size and are interested in more fabric options.

We are also offering the option to order it in a new style that we developed with Rota : higher rise, flat front with side-tabs. Front rise is 28 cm on that one vs 26 cm on our regular mid-rise belt-loop trousers. We won't be offering pleated options for these pre-orders.

Sizing guidance

As a general rule, we caution anyone who has not had the chance to try on the Sartoria Formosa cut and size it properly, against ordering anything made to order. That said, if you want to go ahead and are not sure of your size, here is some general guidance & measurements (there will ALWAYS be some variation). In addition, we strongly suggest to engage in a sizing discussion here or in the No Man affiliate thread with other Formosa customers, as you will surely be able to get good feedback from others with a similar build
