QUILT WHILE YOU'RE AHEAD

As we've been buzzing about it in this thread for a few days now, we're more than excited to announce a special re-issue of the ts(s) FW 2014 quilted two button jacket. Originally offered in two colors - a dusty blue and a dusty burgundy, designer Takuji Suzuki is working with us and prepared a special set of swatches for this re-issue. They have the same material composition and have the same hand, so if you've handled the originals you know what to expect. Despite being a cotton/poly, it's brushed slightly and has a hand more along the lines of a wool.

This pre-order is limited in quantity and is for a September, 2016 delivery. As with our usual pre-order stuff, there is extra incentive in the form of a 15% pre-order discount (PREORDER15) and paying half now, half later.

I'll try to get a few more photos of these being worn up soon, but if you have any of your own - please post them!

Option 1: blue herringbone

Option 2: light grey herringbone

Option 3: Charcoal grey herringbone (with comparison to light grey)

I think that about covers it, but please let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to answer them as well as update this post with the most relevant information.

A link to all three options is here.

DESPERATELY SEEKING SERPENTINES

[closed]

We're back from Paris, and with that comes lots of photos and notes from our time at the wonderful Stephan Schneider showroom, and of course pre-orders
biggrin.gif

Spring Summer 2017 is titled Desperately Seeking Serpentines, and it took it's inspiration from the kind of bittersweet, joyful melancholy that comes from looking back on the sad love songs from our teenage years. Lyrics from sad love songs of various ages were printed on "serpentines" a type of streamer typically reserved for New Years and other joyous occasions. It was this dichotomy that Stephan wanted to look at, and it comes through with a mixture of subdued colors that continue the deep greens from FW2016, sprinkled with the more traditional bright colors of the serpentine streamers.

Our showroom photos go along with the postings, but following all of the details are a few appropriate lookbook photos for styles that have them.

These pre-orders are a chance to get something in an uncommon fabric that may otherwise not get ordered, or in an uncommon size that may not get ordered. With the PREORDER code, it's also a chance to get a sale price on Schneider at the very beginning of the season instead of the end.

The fine print:

  • Because of the special nature of these, all pre-orders are to be considered final sale.
  • The item pages that are up are for a 50% deposit to secure the item, with 50% due again in early spring 2017 when we receive the items.
  • Don't forget to use code PREORDER for 20% off now, and later!
  • Be sure to read the item descriptions - not all photos represent the item that will be ordered, and occasionally may just show the item style, with separate photos to indicate the fabric available.
  • We really need to get this order over to Belgium, so pre-orders will close at the end of the week: EOD Friday, July 8th. Don't sleep on these!

All pre-order styles.

Wonder trousers: These are a shape we've seen before from Stephan, most recently this spring/summer in a style called the "Hammer". It's a good shape, with a semi-elastic waist and nice taper down the whole leg. We're offering them in four fabrics for pre-order: an 80/20 cotton/linen in both navy blue and beige (this is the closest to this season's "agate" slubby cotton/linen fabric that sold out near instantly), the signature dark green color of the season in a cotton/nylon with a great super-lightweight hand to it, and a medium weight textured cotton/nylon in a large grey and beige check (look for this fabric again!)

Elusion jacket: this is a super lighweight cotton bomber, partially lined and finished with nice hardware and details like the self-fabric collar. The beige one has contrasting trim on the inside, with the dark green having a dark charcoal (maybe black?) solid lining. Both wear very light, with the lining only in the upper back and zipper area.

Joy jacket: we went back and forth about bringing back Stephan's signature integrated hood, 1 1/2 breasted style, but decided this iteration was too perfect to skip it. Remember when I said to take note of that textured grey and beige large check fabric? We're using it again here, with a matching camel color shirting fabric lining. Butter.

Sentiment shirt: This is something a little different, but a lot more subtle than you'd think. It's got a lot going on but it comes together nicely, so bear with me here: kimono style sleeves, with poplin front and (tonal, this is key!) jersey back to be cool wearing, and an asymmetrical front closure that looks just right when worn a little bit unbuttoned. Available in tonal green on green and navy on navy.

Integrity shirt-jacket: This is a hard one to pin down, as it's a bit of a chameleon depending on fabric choice and how you wear it. It's a completely unstructured shirt jacket, with patch pockets and a collar that can be worn up, down as a regular collar, or down with lapels. Made up in that 80/20 cotton/linen, it has a bit of a refined chore coat vibe for the guys into that, but we're also offering it in this incredible 100% slubby silk "donegal", if you can call it that (I will for convenience). Be sure to take a look at those close-ups.

I think that about covers all of it, but please ask away if you have any questions or concerns, and I'll update this thread as soon as I have any more materials.

Got some lookbook photos!

Just a heads-up that we'll be closing the pre-orders soon as we really have to get everything over to Belgium, but I wanted to mention one last thing.

As we've settled our buy, there are a few styles that we can exchange for a different size if your pre-order size doesn't work out (provided you get back to us pretty quickly after receiving your pre-order, and we still have the size you need).

These styles are the Wonder trousers in green and navy, the Elusion jacket in both tan and green, the Sentiment shirt in green, and the Integrity shirt jacket in both blue cotton/linen and grey silk.

NORWEGIAN RAIN S/S'17 PRE-ORDERS

One of our favorite makers and discovery of the last couple years has been Norwegian Rain. Incredibly talented people (both T-Michael and Alex) and a focus on making the best possible product, never cutting corners. All the details make a ton of sense, they're functional and they're attractively designed as well.

We've been talking to them about warmer weather options for a bit now, and I was blown away when I saw some of the changes they made to the designs to make them functional in warm weather.
  1. First, they developed a new construction with a cool mesh fabric as base lining (instead of the warmer satin lining) that will let the wearer fully benefit from the technical membrane that breathes well (unlike traditional bonded fabrics).
    1000

  2. Then, they worked with their Japanese fabric manufacturer to develop a light weight (LW) version of their woven technical fabrics (190g instead of 245g), as well as a super lightweight (SLW) technical fabric (112g !!) that offers the same total rain protection (taped seams, membrane...) but wearable in summer temperatures.
  3. Uncompromised performance as they developed those lightweight fabrics: water-proofness stats: water column 20,000mm (this means that you can fill a 1" wide column of water up to 65 feet high before water would begin to leak through!); breathability 20,000 gr/m2/day.

Here's me trying on the Geneve coat in the SLW green fabric (sample is one size too small for me).

Light as a feather, all the incredible features that we're used to from Norwegian Rain (horn buttons, best hardware, removable hood, etc...) and a great matte technical fabric that drapes nicely.

EIDOS S/S'17 PRE-ORDERS

PART 1 : FIELD JACKETS

This coat needs no introduction, it's the fantastic field jacket designed by Antonio, that can work easily from a pretty cool look over a suit or sport coat, down to a casual jeans and sweater look.

None of the fabrics we chose were sampled so you will have to use your imagination when looking at the swatches

We chose 4 fabrics with Antonio, and while a photo of a swatch conveys little, please know that it was a long process of elimination of many great swatches to get to those - all four are really awesome, with very different hands, weights and textures.

Note that all the jackets will have tonal buttons - no high contrast button colors.

Fabric options

(note that close-up swatch shots often come out lighter than IRL) :

Blue donegal silk/wool/mohair fabric by Carlo Barbera

Brown waffle textured 75% wool, 15% silk, 10% linen from Vitale Barberis Canonico

Navy technical 51% cotton, 49% polyester indigo-dyed Japanese "grosgrain" fabric

Grey "donegal" 100% silk fabric from Lanificio di Pray

ROTA S/S'17 PRE-ORDERS

Just like last season, here's an opportunity to order your size and in a color you want. This time, we're showing a greater range of colors for each fabric quality, including a bunch we won't be carrying off the rack - to give greater choice to those who know their Rota size and are interested in more fabric options.

Like for fall, we are also offering the option to order your trousers in the new style that we developed with Rota : higher rise, flat front with side-tabs. Front rise is 28 cm on that one vs 26 cm on our regular mid-rise belt-loop trousers. We won't be offering pleated options for these pre-orders.

Note that this is not MTO or MTM : we're not taking orders with sizing modifications, different zippers, etc... only standard sizes in two models.

All prices are net of the $40 tailoring discount, and PREORDER15 will give 15% off at checkout.

We're offering 9 fabric types in several colors each

Lightweight crunchy wool - a NoMan classic from our first summer season

"High performance" S120 wool - highly recommended by the Rota family, strong positive customer feedback, travels really well
[FYI: we prob won't have any of those OTR]

Navy/blue micro-tooth S150 wool - for those looking for a little more pattern, very soft and pleasant hand

Wool, silk, linen mix - we had the green in store, fantastic fabric with great character

Irish linen - must-have for any wardrobe. We had the tan and (no longer available) tobacco this season

Cotton twill (not garment-dyed) - always the most comfortable option for dress trousers

Cotton/linen seersucker - Note that the swatch is pre-wash, so doesn't rumple like the end product will (see pants pic for better sense).
Imagine this with high waist and side tabs
inlove.gif

1000

Garment-dyed cotton canvas - great texture

Garment-dyed cotton/linen - Great "streaky" texture. We had the sand and tan this season
(note that only the top swatch has the correct weave/texture - other two swatches are there just for color)

Deadline for orders is 7/28 at midnight

CHRISTIAN KIMBER PRE-ORDERS

For the Christian Kimber fans out there (that includes yours truly), we've worked with Christian on a very special round of pre-orders for you guys.

Christian, who as most of you know, has a great eye for pocket square design and color combinations, came up with two lightweight scarf designs that are beautiful, subtle, tasteful and feel fantastic in a mix of Modal, linen and silk. We are offering them as a special pre-order right now, and will be launching the scarves exclusively at No Man Walks Alone and Christian's store this fall.

He also built on the success of his tote design, to create two new totes, all leather this time, with a great contrast between the grained leather and the smooth calf parts, tasteful patterned stitching to accent the whole thing. Really wonderful bags, made in Tuscany, an hour outside of Florence - and a great price too.

We're expecting scarves deliveries late October, early November; bags delivery a couple weeks later. We will update on delivery window as we get closer.

This pre-order is not designed as a deposit + balance, but payment is made at the time of order. Use code PREORDER for your pre-order discount
