The discussion about a sweater and the oft-occuring rant against visible logos on sweaters etc makes me beg this question:

For all who are so passionate about "no logos", do you accept them on blue jeans? If so, why?

certain people may like visible logos and good fro them but even with jeans i dislike logos thus look for jeans without logos or mininmal then have the te rest removed before weraifn them in public. on side note should this not be in the other forum as it pertains to jeans?

Thought about that but it's more about the philosophy of fashion logos... at least I thought so.

I try not to be obsessive about anything, but would never wear a sweater or polo with a logo, and have scratched the Paul Smith logo off one or two of my printed PS tees.

Subtle logos are hard to avoid on jeans, though. Ugly leather patches always come off, but I haven't yet reached the point where I'm taking a grinder to the rivets to obliterate a brand name.

I have always avoided logos like the plague, and will not buy jeans with crazy brand specific stitching on the back pockets. The Levis small red tag is unobtrusive, so I tolerate it.
Same for belts, accessories, glasses. I won't buy it if the brand name is easily visible.

Jeans are a fairly modern invention, and pretty much by original design had a logo on it. I don't mind wearing them, because that's how they were conceived. Same with sneakers, for the most part.

A sweater is different. There was no logo when a sweater was invented.

I would argue that jeans are "supposed" to have identifiers, and sweaters are not.

that's an easy to understand rationale. Appreciate it.

Just curious- was the shirt otherwise so unique/good/a bargain to justify buying in then "scratching off the logo" versus buying something else?

I have removed the stitching on Nudie Jeans to make them less of an advertisment. On my other jeans, I can deal with a red tab on repros, but I still like plain back pockets.

I try to avoid logos as much as possible, but I am not like Cayce Pollard or anything.

I posted it there and I will post it here

I used to care a lot about avoiding logos; I hated them. And now I realize that it doensn't matter. I don't care. I won't buy a different shirt just based on a logo. I will buy the shirt I like regardless of the logo. to an extent. no big pony polos for me.

It's all in the fit for me. When shopping, I probably wouldn't be trying on jeans with gigantic logos on the pockets but I don't avoid them.

Now that I've re-read my post, it probably isn't very clear.

I haven't seen any that appealed for a while, but PS used to do some interesting printed Ts, often using old photographs. They had a tiny little logo in the corner under the image that was easily peeled off.

This is the idea, but with a less butt ugly print and a smaller logo beneath it.

I don't mind the Levi's red tab, or the pony on polo shirts, or the silver arrows on Persols, etc., but I draw the line at trousers, sweaters, ties, non-athletic shoes, etc.
