Last year I bought a copy of Esquire's Encyclopedia of 20th Century Men's Fashions which was published in 1973. I would like to take the time to do more than just browse through it but it's hard to buckle down and just do it. I also have a few other books related to men's style or fashion as well as access to an enormous collection of magazines and journals where I go to school. Now I will admit I bought the Esquire book mostly because I admire that old world type of illustrating but I would definitely like to find some motivation to actually read through some of this big ass book.

So I thought since I have this 700 page encyclopedia of men's trends and fashions throughout recent history as well as a few other books by Alan Flusser and others I might as well offer them as a resource to you guys. I thought this would be a great learning experience for all of us, myself especially. I will do my best to try to find an answer to any questions and I hope others will too. So please ask about anything related to men's style or fashion, unless of course you are looking for personal opinions.

My hopes are that this thread will be kept strictly to serious questions followed by answers that are taken from published sources. This means anyone can ask a question and anyone can answer, but the answers will be cited in some way or another.

Thanks for your time and your questions, this should be very informative!
