I thought you were endorsing the "no colour" option, that is only shades of grey.

This suit/outfit doesn't look bad but it's really nothing special.
I go for the gray spectrum, but what I really mean is sartorial monochromatism. Dark blue is another option that Bill Nighy does well.

As I already said, I'm not a fan of monochromatism, in fact I'm on the opposite side, as I love colour, contrast and patterns.

I have to admit though that I also appreciate monochromatic, low-contrast outfits sometimes.

Here some examples rather attractive in my eyes.

you know i what i agree with you here .

i think that you describe the aesthetic idea of a matching lounge suit exactly right , as sartorial monochromatism . i think if you take this idea through color you soon get to that classical color theory and then you arrive at pattern but that's all a matter of palette and perhaps complexity or perhaps inevitability . in any case as long as it adheres to a classic lounge sensibility in terms of a matched suit it can still be considered grown as a variation on a kind of monochromatism . it's really in the dna of the suit

Not a windowpane or color in sight.

Remember-- traveling lightly. No DoW entourage picking out his tweed or flannel for the day and pressing yesterday's.

I may be boring but it's simple and quick dressing for church with my timeless wardrobe:
3 Suits- Navy, Light Grey, Olive/ Grey undertones.
3 Grenadine ties- Black, Blue, Burgundy.
Shirts only white and light blue
Shoes- Black Cap-Toe Oxfords and saving for Tobacco Brown Wingtips .
Socks- 3 pairs OTC Merino you can guess the colors I'm sure 😉.
Thanks for reading.

Very interesting on the suit colors. As someone considering buying 3 suits in the not too distant future, Navy and Light Grey are on my list. Was thinking Charcoal for #3 but I think Navy sort of fills that role.

Before I learned, I bought the Olive, I prefer charcoal but can't afford it yet.

I have vacillated through the years on monochromatic dressing. Currently, I'm not bullish on it as there are so many striking colorways in suitings, shirtings, and knitwear. Like a lot of you, I like color.

I've pulled off the look with grayscale and navy—arguably the best sartorial options—and now I have the wardrobe depth to take on browns and greens. I also like the neutrality of summer hues; it is easy to pair tan, beige, camel, and sage to create a monochromatic vibe.

I've been reading up on Sprezzatura and taking more artistic liberties with business dress. The key is to look effortless in assembling any outfit. I shoot for the "Wow, I would have never thought of that, but it looks cool" effect. Sometimes, I hit it; other times, not.
