no buttons on cuff?

just got an amazing sportcoat for very cheap and just couldnt miss out on the deal. The one thing i wonder now is that there are no buttons on the cuff (even though they were included in a separate box

). the salesman said that its an easy job for a tailor to make buttonholes etc. I just believed him, mainly because i wanted to believe him as i was looking for that kind of spoartcoat a long time.

is it normal in the higher priced segment that buttons are not put on the jacket yet??? ive bought some unfinished pants; but unfinished cuffs?

I believe this allows easier tailoring of the sleeve length. And it should be relatively inexpensive for your tailor to make the buttonholes and install the buttons.

It's just like suit pants - they're unfinished so that they can be tailored exactly for your body. You got something of quality.

You can get working buttonholes put in, but I think this costs around $100.

100$ for working button holes?? i paid 150$ for the spoartcoat....wow didnt expect that!

This is found a lot on higher quality coats, they purposely leave the buttons off to allow for any adjustments to the sleeves to be made and will then add them on later.

Or, you can just have buttons sewn on as a less expensive option o oworking button holes. The last time I had button holes made - 4 on each sleeve - it was about US$100.
