Soooooo I'm gonna treat myself to a new pair of autumn sneakers (needs to have some brown, khaki, white or creams etc in the colour way) but can't decide between:-

Zoom Vomero 5 'Sashiko' - Sanddrift/Earth/Muslin

One of the best models ever. The hue is brighter and worse than the OGs but maybe/hopefully that's just a function of time & aging.

Any views on this?:

Do you think Nike will come back and boost sales, or will it linger behind increasing competition?
I think that Nike made some strategic mistakes in the past couple of years, trying to milk a winning strategy too hard, and forgetting that less immediately profitable avenues like their wholesale business and innovation (as opposed to their DTC business and the initial popularity of their archival models) were the bedrock. I think that some other, newer entries in the market seem destined to stay, but it’s hard to see how Nike, with its still stellar brand image, will not make a comeback, though it may take a few years after their missteps. The new CEO, who is a longtime Nike vet, is definitely a step in the right direction.

I think part of Nike's problem is the public not looking at anything else they are making but specific models. They fell into the hype trap. I see tons of great shoes I want from Nike in amazing colorways. None of them are hyped or popular models. It's a shame. I can't think of a shoe I want any less than a Jordan.

I think Nike erred in moving to the Nike store and DTC model. They told Footlocker to eff off. For a while the Footlocker (and their affiliate stores) carried no Nikes.

I've always felt that people want to see the shoe in hand esp. sneakers. It's hard to get to a Nike store. They're not everywhere. G'town DC had a nike store that straight up closed. I think all the Nike stores are in outlets here, which are a long drive.

Oh, Footlocker is back to carrying Nikes.

May I introduce you to my Nike Air Force 1 High, a customized order from 2020 at nike.com.

I bought my first pair with exactly this look in 1985, unfortunately these kicks became too small for me over time and I very much regretted that in all these years no model in these colors ever came on the market again. So I was all the more delighted to have the opportunity to put together a pair of shoes like these myself four years ago.

These are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I can walk for miles in them without my feet getting tired. The high Velcro strap helps and provides even more stability at the ankle.

My shoe for the desert island 🏝️ ...
