Where can we go to find a good nightclub in downtown New York?

In addition to the local clubs are offering a good fun?

Thank you

mudd club was good, but has closed along cbgbs, max's and a couple hundred others....

* was recently reading about the crisco disco!

it seems the late '70's/early '80's was prime club period in nyc.

Did you actually go to Mudd Club? I was speaking with some of my friends about that club last weekend. I guess Basquiat, Vincent Gallo and Deborah Harry used to hang out there. It was over near where the Soho Grand is now located (or so i heard).

and sorry if i spelled the names wrong

I'd really like to go to Andrew WK's club (Santo's Party House). Anyone ever been there?

This is the absolute most important question. Anyone just looking to "go to a club" should be avoided at all costs. As should any venue catering to that clientele.

Go there for a reason, preferably the music being played since that's the whole reason its' a "club" and not a bar. House, trance, DnB, whatever. Have a reason for going somewhere besides dressing up like a douchebag and standing around, pissing people off.

If you are European, just walk around Meatpacking District and you will find something you like.

cut copy & presets did a DJ set / after party there on our last tour. Decent place but when its crowded the placement of the bar SUCKS and it can be tough to get a drink.

What? All of a sudden you don't want to gas everyone? Is LK going soft?
