Thanks for links Seanrosas, first time I read your post I only got to the cameraman's and did not finish the post. Just reread it this morning and saw the link for the oxford multi stripes. They had a 50 left in the BD shirt, was unable to pass at that price. First time I have come across those two sites. If I did not have a winter cameraman in a similar colour I would find it hard to resist at those prices. At this rate it will take me till Christmas to clear my credit card.
    Nice blog as well, -bookmarked

Can you guys chime in why the oxford cost so much. Yes I understand the NC stuff is pricey in general, but curious does it feel different say to Gitman?

IMHO you could ask that about every NC garment. The first answer to every piece is surely labor. You're paying for British labor vs labor from somewhere else. Then I'd venture to say you're paying for the name. Then the materials. Overall though I'd be you're paying for labor first and foremost.

Not trying to knock NC here as I've bought my fair share this Summer alone, but IMO it's overpriced. You could say this about a number of designers who don't even use British labor.

I think volume has a big part to play as well. Asking a manufacturer to do a run of 100 items versus 1000 will mean a higher setup cost per item.
He also uses manufacturing techniques and material that are no longer used. How often have you come across beeswax and oil coated clothing. I think this cost is spread across the range. The cameraman is made of mackintosh and Harris tweed, two of the finest materials you can get. Still overpriced, god bless the sales.
