Sorry to start a new thread, but could not find much info about Nigel Cabourn (except that Zissou is a bit obsessed!). I saw in a shop in Zurich this summer some Cabourn items that I liked, but knew nothing about the brand and could not justify 1000 USD for a linen field jacket. I missed the superdenim.co.uk sale recently, nothing left in my size (50EU). I was overbid on ebay recently on this beautiful Tropic Stormcoat due the the fact the the link has been posted previously on thechoosybeggar.com. I just bought on ebay (after exchanging some email with the sellers) this black duffel coat for a price too good to be true (75 GBP). Has anybody seen this? From which year it is?

Nice find. It's real and is probably about 5-7 years old. I doubt it's NWT though.

Thanks. That was an impulse buy! The pics on ebay were poor and the seller was not very helpful with where this was bought.

I have received the Utility duffel coat and I am very happy with the fit and styling, but the fabric looks pretty cheap.

I just ordered a REAL Cabourn sweater and flight jacket from the superdenim.co.uk sample sale.

Unfortunately his utility range for Debenhams is pretty poor in comparison, it is what it is, cheap and cheerful, there have been a couple of sellers on the bay trying it on with utility Cabourn, either because they are completely clueless or because they are trying it on with those who don't know about his Debenhams range, £75 is very steep for that, but you live and learn mate.

^Yep, I do not live in UK. The joys of ordering online!
Wasn't the Utility range by Cabourn done 4-5 year ago? (looks like an H&M collaboration) It's strange so many of these showed up recently on ebay.

There's a huge amount of the Utility range seemingly going on ebay and i'm not sure people always know what they're getting. A version of the Everest parka sold for for far in excess of the £200 retail price recently- I'd be surprised if the buyer knew what the original cost or the fact Debenhams were flogging them off for £60 in the sale when they couldn't shift them.

Here - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NIGEL-CABOURN-...item3cb2246fbb

It's a copy of a copy. I 'think' it was ventile but the seller claiming the only differences are the buttons and toggle shapes is just plain wrong. This would have been factory made in bulk, I think Nigel Cabourn has said that there have only ever been something like 500 of the Everest Parka proper made, all largely by hand.

There's another utility jacket on ebay at the moment with a daft £300+ price tag. It can't have been more than £150 new. Sellers seem to be disingenuous at best - if you ask whether it's Debenhams they're not always straight with their answers.

I think this spate is probably something to do with the fact that a large amount of 2009 and 2010 was sold in sales (online, samples etc) recently and appeared on ebay with the number of NC auctions increasing over the last few months. If people see cameraman jackets going for £600+ then they'll try and cash in too.

(MASSIVE bargain for whoever got this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nigel-Cabourn-...#ht_500wt_705)

- Beetham duffel, came complete with tags, brand new and unworn. A complete bargain at something daft like 8% of the original RRP...
