6 months in I think... only had a few days off in that time. Hundred of miles logged so far. The only real sign of wear is the heel is being ground down a bit due to walking 5ish miles a day. I usually use Obenaufs LP but Skidmores is made just up the road from me so I gave it a go. It darkened them a tad but still not as dark as my walnut Rangers. I suspect like Obenaufs, this will lessen over the next month or so.

Are these 5 inch Charleys in walnut smooth leather? They look awesome, almost like a Whites Semi Dress with better fit and finish.

We do have the waxed brown and will have it going forward. We are adding a new sole option that I will see if I can get pictures for you, we’re still testing a few things on it so don’t want to jump the gun, let me check.
Hi Shuyler, I don't know if I missed it but any update on the new sole options you mentioned? I was particularly interested in the half-sole option. Thanks.

Aight, I'm really gearing up to pull the trigger on some veg tan this month while all the options are still up... if I were to place an order for an Urban Logger, would you be able to adjust it to 10" with a high arch/#4 toe @Nicks Boots Shuyler – basically a BuilderPro like you said previously? Maybe with the thicker/non-stitched sole as well? What would pricing look like on something like that?

Thanks!

Hi, no problem. That should be $615. My only caveat is that the thicker might be a little overkill unless you are really working in some tough stuff, but happy to do it.

I didn't realize your boots were customizable beyond what was available on the website! What kinds of other adjustments are possible?

Oh man. Any ideas you have to narrow it down? It’s also a little easier if we have your sizing nailed down first before we go crazy if that makes sense

@Nicks Boots Shuyler well, my current order is for a pretty standard MTO falcon. I don't intend to make any weird requests, but was just more curious what is within the realm of possible. sorta thinking about next order, ya know?

also, with the medium brown veg tan, do you think antique hardware or brass looks better? and any thoughts on structured vs unstructured toe? i keep waffling back and forth, would love a 'expert' opinion.

Hmm. Well, just from this thread there have been 5” heritage boots, all eyelets instead of speed hooks, or using veg tan on a packer which is my personal favorite. I do also have some olive chromepak that I’m making a pair of boots in and have enough for a few more. We did 8” travelers in dark brown veg tan that came out really beautifully. Hope that gets the juices flowing :)

I prefer brass to antique as antique is basically brass with an anodized coating that wears off over time and ends up looking pretty much like brass anyways. Toe shape is all aesthetic preference but feel like it makes less of a difference with our boots because our leather is thick and thus a little stiffer so you don’t really see collapses or flattening as much. Personally I like a strong, distinct toe shape so go with celastic but get why people like the more organic unstructured look.
