I'm looking at an older Roberts listed as navy chromexcel. I'm much more used to the more turquoise version. Could it be a navy horsehide CXL? I am having trouble finding any examples of older Nicks in this leather.

It’s possible, could also have been conditioned quite a bit

my guess would be with celastic. The toe looks too 'nice and new' given the relative amount of wear on the boots IMO to not be collapsed

I’m not so sure. I found this photo of LTT in soft toe, and they retain a lot of structure.

Do lace-to-toe boots have additional material under the toe? Well-worn pairs seem to show the marking of a seam at the toes — nothing unattractive, but it suggests there is additional leather under the toe.

There is some additional leather under there with the pattern, yes

Selling a pair of Howard boots in tan rough out, size 7.5D. Too small, pretty sure they won’t take them back because I tried them on in my boot room and got some kinda weird brown stain on the sole. Not even broken in. Will take $350.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
