Antonio Panico has supposedly done this. If you enter his shop and he deems you not well dressed enough, he will put his hand on your shoulder and say you are already well-dressed and he can't help you.

Luckily I only ever meet really meet fabulous people like the good folks on here, but I have once had to say look, I don’t think I can do what you expect. Better to realise that sooner than 2 or 3 remakes down the line

I think I mentioned this elsewhere, but I once had coffee with a clothier and told him that I like to ask tailors for stories about their strangest or most difficult customers. I told him that my dream is to one day compile a book with all these stories, as custom clothing attracts so many strange people and I've heard so many amazing stories.

This clothier perked up and said, "me too!" He said that he has a folder on his computer where he's saved every crazy email he's received from customers. He said that hopes to one day publish a book with all those emails. The book will be titled "Morons" because that's the name of the folder.

I can't make comments about weird clothing clients. Because I am one.

That's what makes these stories so enjoyable! Some stories are truly out there, so it's partly about the inherent amazingness of the story. But there's also that bit of cringe when you see yourself in the story. It's like watching David Brent in The Office and thinking you, at some point, may have been that person in some small way.

I can't seem to find it right now, but someone recently posted an amusing video on Twitter where a woman is doing an impression of a wealthy woman in a nail salon and treating the people in the store poorly. I've never been to a nail salon, so I don't know if such characters exist. But my impression is that partly what makes the video so funny is that anyone who's slightly self-aware is constantly worried about being that type of person when asking for anything from anyone.

I'll be sure to dress up for Nick in my finest tank top. It's going to be black for formal wear.

Did someone here order these "Paris monks," and if so, do you happen to have any fit pics with the shoes? Ideally showing the whole outfit (not just trouser cuff + shoe). Thinking about ordering these next and wondering how these look in an outfit.

Fantastic color.

Thinking about ordering a brown suede version of this shoe. But I also find that I wear my EG Dovers more than my EG Mercers (a single monk). Wondering if this slightly different shape would make me feel differently about it in an outfit.

I think in general monks are pretty versatile they can act as derbies, or dress shoes depending on the color/leather. I'd have no issues wearing the above with suits, or with jeans.

I like the two-eyelet derbies Nicholas was wearing on this trip. Was between those and a single monk.

Also, just remembered this morning that I have a pair of two-eyelet derbies from StC. Hidden in the back of the closet somewhere. Probably should take them out and wear them for a while to figure out how I like the style.

Might just do another split-toe after this loafer order, and then decide on two-eyelet derby vs single monk two years down the road when these two orders are done.
