Small Batch Good Fabric List! Cone Denim by the yard! http://www.premiumdenimoutlet.com/Sc...?idCategory=19 I haven't seen much in the way of DIY stuff here, so I figured I'd start a thread about small order fabric sellers. Unfortunatley I'm no expert

, so, does anyone know of good sources for small orders of good (doesnt have to be great) fabric for DIY projects? I know most of the really cool fabrics you find in clothes are only sold in large batches only, so I've been wondering if anyone has experience with any fabric companies which sell by the yard or for just a single roll. I'm interested in things like nice denim or chambray but really any recommendations would be welcome because I could figure out something I'd want to make out of whatever. Obviously a google search will give me like 10000 different fabric stores but they're mostly crap looking. I'd also be interested in any places to buy cool buttons either for shirts or button fly denim. One company that seems promising is SAFE denim, http://www.safedenim.com/ , who sell a single 30yd roll of raw slubby ringspun for the price of a pair of new standards, which isn't bad at all if it's nice quality denim because there's a million things I'd love to make out of denim. Does anyone have any experience with them? I'm just going to order some swatches first obviously but I'd love to hear if anyone has any experience. I'd love it if any of the designers on here could drop some knowledge, though obviously sometimes people want to keep their secrets and that's cool. I doubt this thread will last too long due to lack of interest but if people start posting links I'll update the OP with them.

In for future posts.

I'd kill to find a small-time supplier of 19-22 oz denim. Or any heavy cotton or wool thick fabrics with good patterns.

My best advice is to search for a fabric store in your area, since they tend to have a pretty good selection you can feel before buying.

Man I would too! Unfortunately when looking for anything about buying heavy denim like that I ran into a couple posts from 2 years ago where someone was asking where to locate the same thing and a guy who purchased it in bulk for his clothing line said that all of the denim that heavy is special-run stuff you have to have made custom order by the mill, and that he ordered in bulk of 25 rolls and even at that amount the price was something like $14/yard!

But I really want someone to please prove me wrong and give a link to where I can buy denim that heavy

As for fabric stores in my area I guess I ought to look around Chicago, there have to be places that would have some nice stuff in a city this big.
