Nice hangers

hi all. i am looking for some nice wooden hangers with substantial shoulders and (most importantly) a felted bar to hang trousers (or a grippy, non-slip bar that serves the same function). i have several nice wooden hangers, but they all have annoying little teeth on the bar that do absolutely nothing to prevent trousers from slipping off.

i am of course aware of the Hanger Project, but refuse to believe that there is no hanger that meets this spec at less than $25 a pop. if i have to bite the bullet i will, but i'm hoping there are more fiscally responsible options, particularly since i have a rather large stable of things to hang.

any suggestions? thanks!

There are large wooden hangers with felted bars at the container store, but they don't have as nice of shoulder flare, are not constructed as well and, worse of all, the edges aren't rolled and stretch the jacket fabric.

You're not going to find a lot of sympathy for this position on SF.

I hate to give you the trite response of "HP charges those prices because it can, i.e., the market will bear them." But, well, it can and it does.

The flare on the shoulders of these appears smaller than the flare on the BB plastic hangers.

This won't be terribly helpful to the OP, beyond giving the thread a bump for visibility, but I've never felt there's anything wrong with cheap (read: free) black plastic hangers, provided they're appropriately shaped/curved and have adequate shoulder support. They do the job from a functional perspective, and I can't bring myself to care much about what clothes look like hanging up in a closed wardrobe. In fact, from a functional perspective, I prefer them to the fancier, prettier wooden ones from my tailor, to the point of asking them to give me black plastic ones instead of wooden ones whenever I collect anything new. Just did that today, in fact. In hindsight, I should have gotten both and flogged the wooden ones off on SF.

Bottom line -- the Hanger Project hangers are worth every penny.

These are pretty close to your price range too. I haven't tried Butler but they look really nice. And Shaya is a pleasure to deal with!
