Callahan is a guy I'd kick pretty much anyone off the Habs for. Productive, talented, and shows up in clutch situations.

Training camp yesterday, preseason monday, less than 3 weeks til regular season. :slayer:

bit of a distant connection: dad fixes a guy's car who is friends with jeff carter's dad. said pronger was ratting on carter + richards for going out and drinking. JC's dad also said pronger was responsible for a lot of friction in the dressing room, which is unsurprising if you've ever seen the guy talk to the media.

    1. interested to see how sabres, flyers, and kings do. sabres have been spending like it dont mean nothin, flyers did a complete rebuild, and the kings are pretty underrated with one of the best goalie duos. adding more (richards) is just going to make them scarier. also wondering how the caps will do, they have probably been the best team with the worst results in the past 5 years.

    2. hope the jets dont shit the bed

    3. sensing a lot of "woe is me" from the canucks. still feel bad for luongo, but damn guys, you felt entitled to the cup and got spanked, get over it.

    4. low expectations from the flames this season. feaster may have won a cup but i dont have a lot of faith in the guy... i have bad feelings that iginla will become one of the greatest players to never win a stanley cup.

Ugh. I truly hope not in regards to #4. I'm a diehard flames fan, but would love iggy to win it...even if it means elsewhere.

17 more days boys! subbed to this thread!

I hear they will actually play some of their top guys due to the novelty of the baltimore game. That's good news, last year I went to a preseason game and it was a snoozefest.

Too bad it's not being televised.

Habs vs. Dallas was classic preseason hockey. Tons of guys I had barely heard of on both teams and a few marquee players suiting up. A lot of these guys still look rusty but it's good to see hockey on again.

Also, Erik Cole is exactly what the Habs needed. He goes to the net for everything.

Probably a good thing it wasn't televised. Ovie, Backstrom, Semin and Green all played. Was still a major snoozefest. First Mariner Arena in Baltimore is a total shithole and the ice during the game was the worst I've ever seen, including random local rinks I've played pickup at.

seeing a lot of awesomeness from prospects this pre-season. frattin seems to be a good thing for the leafs, zibanejad got an OT winner, scheifele was big in winnipeg, etc. as a goalie i always like seeing the new guys get their fair go at things; nice to see unknowns show up and start pulling out stops on the big guns.

My brother-in-law was first row on the blue line. Said it was ridiculous. I can only imagine what it will be like for the first actual game.

I would love to be there for the first jets game. will be bananas, for sure.

Shanny's handing out some pretty stiff discipine. PL3 gets preseason + 1 game, Shelley gets preseason + 5 games. Finally, discipline that'll cause some people to think twice. Both were previous offenders and tbh I didn't see the PL3 hit.

^Guy from my office is totally set on going, has 1500 set aside for a ticket. Or he did, he might have already picked one up.

Watching the preseason Nucks is kind of a mixed bag... no one seems to take it seriously but the Canuck organization even less so. While it's nice to see hockey, the squads they're putting out bear zero resemblance to the actual team. I'm starting to wonder if Hank and Dank are even going to suit up before opening night. Luo might get one start for half a game. Every night there are a good 8-10 guys on tryout contracts. PITB had a stat about the calgary game where the guy with the highest NHL scoring total for a single season on the Canucks squad was Anders Eriksson, who maxed out at 28 points with Chicago 11 years ago. Last night, Victor Oreskovich had a higher point total than anyone else on the squad last year with 0 goals, 3 assists.

iirc the nucks dont have a whole lot of open spaces but giving up-and-comers quasi-nhl experience is a good thing. sedins are clearly gonna be on the roster, so i think giving guys like nolan a supporting cast of noobs is gonna make them try harder. having the sedins set you up doesn't make you an awesome player.

man, the oilers are looking more and more like the canadian junior team. if only i wasn't so against the oilers...

Yet they still managed to beat the almost-starting-lineup Oilers 2-1 :slayer:
