1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

And I bet that tight end on the Packers who botched the onside kick will be dancing in the streets for a week.

While I agree in general that running the ball would have been the better call considering NE's inability to stop the run inside the 5 this game, if Wilson had thrown a TD pass most people would have been talking about the gutsy call that Seattle made.

I know it's just a game but damn, that play Butler made exorcised a lot of demons in the past decade for the Pats. Perfect stadium to win it in and great finish!

So no one thinks that someone told Wilson to throw the game?

Deion: What do you think of the call made to pass instead of hand it off to Marshawn Lynch?

Robert Kraft: I'm very happy about the call. *old white guy laugh*

But my point is that you can't judge a play call based on what happened in hindsight. You have to judge it based on the information available at the time. Odds of a pick are pretty minimal on any given play. Odds that you score given 4 chances are pretty high. Etc.

Odds of a pick when throwing in to traffic is higher than odds of the stoppage of a .5 yard run when your back is marshawn lynch and you have three chances to do it in hindsight or foresight.

Yep. There are a handful of plays you can run on second and goal from the 1 with 30 seconds left. The Seahawks picked THE WORST POSSIBLE ONE. No hindsight needed.

there is heavy traffic in that area of the field. backers, safeties, plus the chance that the cornerback jumps the route (which is what happened). by design you have to throw the ball ahead of the receiver in a slant, and you have to rely on fooling all those defenders to not jump the route that is headed to within a few feet of where they all currently are. yeah, it might work, but the risk-reward ratio just doesn't compute.

look, i'm no coach or NFL expert and even my jaw dropped when i saw the ball leave Wilson's hands and where it was headed. that's why my reaction is so strong to this.

If you want to throw on second down, throw a fade to the corner of the end zone. It's a touchdown or an incompletion.
