Nice write up. Isn't a wall of large pieces of fabric an excellent reference rather than just small books? I find it really helps to zero in on the best shade of color and texture.

Chicago for sure. I think it's the only major US city I haven't visited.

Ahh I just didn't know if flight costs would be less expensive to Dallas than Chicago!

Thanks much.

And you know, the fabric I chose is actually in a book. There are many, many fabric books, the fabric on the wall (if I am not mistaken) is probably the stuff that is on hand, in addition to some of the more special fabrics. The fabric wall is really, really neat though, and I feel like it gives one a better impression of scale.

So the young lady told me I could hop off with her on the second floor, and take the back stairs.

Is it just my imagination, or did something happen on the back stairs?

I'm looking forward to your next post.

Definitely cheaper to Dalls, but I'll make a vacation out of a Chicago trip.

Gosh, if that was the case, five minutes early would have been more than sufficient.

Cougs at bars and elevators to bridal parties eh? Maybe I will go to Chicago if I get an interview there after all!

Heh.

If you get the chance, be sure to meet with Chris in both cities as your project progresses. His studios could not be more different. Both are really fun to experience. Chicago has the great wall of fabric, and a cool Oak Street boutique vibe. Dallas is a real workroom. In Dallas you will see more of his works in progress first hand. Last time I was there, I saw a set of bespoke shirts for one styleforum member ready for delivery, and a suit being made for another whose name I recognized.

Aside from Chris's amazing work with clothing (best trouser fit I have ever had by far, and don't get me started on his magic with shoulders and sleeves...) one of the best things about working with him is the time he takes and questions he asks to get everything just right for you. It's everything bespoke should be, (but sometimes isn't.)
