Since I'm new I will try to give a short introduction. I am a recent college grad starting at my first real job with a consulting company. Our general dress code is business casual but can be business formal depending on the client.

After searching through many threads the #1 most important thing seems to be finding a good tailor in your area. Now when I search for good tailors in orange county or even los angeles, very few helpful threads come out. I'm not sure why, maybe people are holding out? lol. I usually take my pants to get hemmed just at local cleaners but for more advanced alterations how would I go about finding a good tailor? My guess would be to ask around (which has not really worked especially because the standard here is higher than the average joe) or to take things to different places until you find out. I think that would be a lot of wasted time and money though. Any advice or suggestions is appreciated.

Word of mouth or unfortunately, trial and error. I am surprised you cannot find a thread somewhere here with some personal endorsements. You might look for a tailor that advertises custom clothing or bespoke suits. This implies a higher level of expertise than the local dry cleaners who can hem pants.

Actually, have you read these:

yeah i had read those threads but there wasn't too much discussion compared to some of the other cities. la is relatively far for me so I would still prefer oc. would u guys recommend taking just a dress shirt first and see how it comes out? then taking a suit if it comes out good?

You might want to go to the best small men's boutique in town and ask them who they use for their tailor. Presuming they use an outside tailor.
