New Wingtips, Have Question!

Hi everyone,

I picked up a pair of Dack's brown leaf Turners yesterday... they are lovely shoes (made by Church's I believe). On sale for $285 CDN (normally $475). I had actually been eyeing these for some time, but couldn't pull the trigger at the original price. I ended up buying a pair of Paul Smith Nash on sale last weekend (my first pair of higher end shoes) to fill the need, although the PS are far more casual, only to find these on sale a mere 7 days later. Well, needless to say I couldn't pass them up. That will be it for a long, long while!

Now, on to the question. On one of the shoes the leather on centre peak of the "W" (pardon me if I don't know the correct terminology) isn't really "trim," for lack of a better word. As you can see in the pictures, there is a small flap of leather at the peak of the brogueing, whereas there is no such excess leather on the other shoe. Is this normal? If not, is it something that a shoemaker could fix, or should I just return them for another pair?

Thanks, and I appreciate your help!

If returning them for another pair is an option (they have more in stock) I would do that.

Otherwise a cobbler could probably carefully cut it in such a way that doesn't look bad

Too funny - I just started a thread about buying the same pair of shoes below you a bit ago. Mine don't have this issue though.

Did you purchase yours at the Dack's on Yonge, or the one at BCE Place? At BCE Place the entire store was 50% on Monday last week, while the Yonge store was only 25% off. By Friday Yonge was at 40% off, so I'm assuming that is what you got these for?

I would suggest seeing if they have another pair, but you might also want to point out that the BCE store was selling the exact same shoes for $237.50 as well...

Great, thanks. I'll be sure to check out the BCE store.

I purchased them at their Yonge Street location north of Eglinton. They were 40% off.

Nit-picky, I suppose! This is my first pair of this style of shoe... just wanted to be sure whether it is normal.
