Looking into purchasing a great casual watch to wear that is of the larger shape. I currently have a rolex datejust, but have had my eyes on the Cartier Roadster GMT XL for a very long time. Any opinions on this watch? I'm into this whole style/shape of watch. Or if anyone has any suggestion for a similar watch in the same price range.

Thanks

Cartier are a well respected brand, whose various models (esp Tank Francais etc) command good resale prices - as well as a great deal of copying of various quality.

The "tonneau" shape is used by a few other brands, Franck Muller being among the priciest, but with a dedicated following of wealthy enthusiasts. The tonneau shape models are the FM signature design. Other makers include Wempe as well as Hamilton. In terms of value for money, IMHO Hamilton are hard to beat. I was however drooling over a tonneau Patek yesterday at £32k...

Personally I like the shape, but I also like 'cushion' shape watches- again because they are out of the ordinary. Lots of vintage examples, but a lovely modern version is exemplified by the Glycine 'Eugene Meylan', quite cheap compared to any Cartier.

Let us know what you get.
