New to the forums with an interesting query

Hey guys,
Just wanted to say hello as I am new to the forums. I have a question, and I don't know if its considered bad form to ask a question on your first post. Attached is a picture of a jacket i received as a gift a while ago (the gift giver seemed to call it a blazer, but I think I know better). Its a Kenneth Cole, blueish/grey with white pin stripes, and larger interlaced orange and blue stripes. I usually wear it with a solid dress shirt (no tie) and nice jeans or a pair of Lauren royal blue khakis (and it looks good).
I was curious if there was a way to wear this with any solid dress pants as a lighter option. I have an event in the coming weeks where some people will be in suits/blazers and others will be in khakis and polos (I assume most of the women will be in skirts). I was hoping to wind up in the middle of being better than khakis and polos but not full formal with the suit and tie.
Any suggestions on what to pair this jacket with would be awesome.
Thanks in advance, and I love reading the wealth of style knowledge on this site!
