New to dry denim

Hi, I've been wearing designer denim from Diesel, Sevens, and Energie a lot and I want to be introduced to dry denim. I've been eyeing pairs of APC and Nudie but I'm not sure what I should try first. APC has some great prices on their site but how does the cut and sizing run? I like my jeans neither baggy or skin tight...a nice in-between with the two. Which cut would be best for me? Also, how does the waist run on these? Are they TTS or do they run big? I'm about 6'1", 175 and my Diesel size is 32 if that helps. :/ How should I maintain these jeans if I get them? Any advice would be appreciated...thanks.

PC New Standards are probably about what you're looking for in terms of cut. I'm guessing a 32 waist would be right for you. (Not because of the Diesel size, since I've never worn Diesels.) Standard rule you'll glean from prior posts here is that you want the APC waist size to be two inches less than your actual waist measurement.
I'm your height and maybe ten pounds heavier, and my actual waist measures about 34.5". My size 33 New Standards, now that I've been wearing them for a while, fit very well - perhaps just a fraction looser than I'd prefer now that they're quite stretched out. Assuming based on weight that your waist is closer to 34", I'd go down to a 32. If I'm off on the guesstimate about your waist, adjust the advice accordingly. (As I assume you'll know, since they're raw they'll be tight but wearable at first and then will loosen as they stretch through wearing.)
As far as maintenance, if you get the APC's they'll come with "instructions". Conventional wisdom is go as long as you can without washing them, then wash gently by hand and air-dry (or don them wet and wear until dry).

Thanks for your response. Will the APC's strech out nicely and conform to my body or will they become saggy and look bad after wearing them for a few months? I'm very picky about how my jeans fit and I don't want to drop $$$ on a pair if they don't fit correctly. How does the rise run on these? After wearing jeans like Diesel which are typically low rise, I absolutely cannot stand high rise jeans that make my butt look baggy. Also, how long does it typically take to witness fading and other details on these?

It would help if you could give your true waist measurement, taken two inches below the navel. I own a a pair of washed diesels in a 32, yet my size 30 Nudie RRDS are loose in the waist after six weeks of wear. APC runs even larger.

Thanks for your help but I don't have a tape measure handy for that. :/ I guess it's difficult to compare waist sizes with Diesel since their sizing is extremely inconsistant between cuts and washes. All my jeans however, are typically size 32 and I like a nice fit, although not tight around the waist. If there are even a tiny bit of sag I typically won't wear them. =/

I have diesel zathans (30), yarik (30 i think), slammer(29), I wear size 28 in NS, I could probably fit into a 27, but that will be really tight.

You can just measure your waist with a piece of string, and then use a piece of paper to measure the string if you don't have a ruler hehe Off the top of my head I'd suggest size 30-31 though, depending on how you want the NS to fit.
