Hey all, first off pretty new to the forum but have done my fair share of reading up and poking around.

As the title says I'm looking for another suit, I have two mediocre suits (olive and navy), but am looking to add a grey suit to the arsenal. I have a few weddings coming up in the fall that I'm planning on it getting its first main use. I am thinking a 2 button, 3 piece due to versatility, but could go for normal 2, with a slimmer cut for my build (5'9, 160ish, slightly topheavy). For example:

Budget is under $1200 (am I on point here?) and going to need it by start of September. Was thinking of heading into Brooks Bros or Hickey Freeman, is this the best course of action? Or is there a good tailor in the SF area you all could point me to?

Thanks in advance!

For $1,200 you can do better than MTM from BB or Hickey Freeman.

Use Yelp to guide you. There are a bunch of shops in the financial center area. If you want something funky, try Al's Attire. He has nice designs, but the execution is hit or miss with respect to timeliness.

You may want to read a thing or two on this forum about suits before going to buy one. With the $ you are ready to spend, I would not go to any store.

I think $1200 is a pretty good number. In that range I think you are very close to on point. Hickey Freeman or Samuelsohn MTM is an excellent choice. My only concern is that if you are going for a 3-piece suit, it will up the cost a bit and may add a few hundred to the $1200 budget. You can try for a trunk show which will help cut down on the cost.

When you speak to the tailor or whomever is sizing you and get a price, you can decide if the difference is worth it for you.

Kot,

Will definitely check out Harry O, hopefully tomorrow. Do you have any recommendations in addition to Al's? While I'm normally a Yelp fiend in this case I definitely trust you all more. Any other info is helpful and thanks for the quick replies

Ty for the intel Gauss

Unfortunately Harry O's moved and became International Laundry. They don't do MTM / custom suits anymore.

They did however refer me to 'the custom shop', which is also in the process of moving. So in short still looking for a good spot!
