Which is the following is a better suit color for year round use? a medium brown pinstripe or a solid medium olive color. Both go equally well with my skin tone. Is one more versatile than the other? Any pros or cons that you guys can think of?

I already have the basics (the navy, the grey, the charcoal, etc.)

I'd vote for the medium brown pinstripe. Brown, while a more "casual" color than gray and navy, benefits from the pinstripe to give it a slightly more formal feel, yet definitely adds variety to your current suit selection.

Medium olive can be an excellent choice if you want to have fun with a variety of colors to add interest. For example purple and navy ties combined with medium blue or pink shirts can add fashionable contrast. In the fall and winter you can contrast with more gold, burgundy, navy, dark purple colored ties and pocket squares against ecru, blue shirts. One of my favorite colors with olive for ties and pocket squares is a paprika color.

With solid olive you might consider shirts with checkerboard patterns or stripes in blue, burgundy and purple.

I think the solid whether olive or a brown solid would be mor versitile than a stripe.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
