I figure this would be a good thread for those of us who live in civilized areas ie LA or NY and happen to be consumer whores. There is a balenciaga store opening up on melrose soon (don't know exactly when) and an Alexander McQueen should be open on melrose also around April.

For those who have women with equally discerning taste there will be a Louboutin opening coming soon to south coast.

Hopefully the trend continues until all those shady "boutiques" west of La Brea are all replaced with actual clothing stores.

word. I was saying that exact thing to cathie as we were driving down melrose. The whole "melrose strip" between La Brea and Fairfax has some of the worst/sketchiest stores ever. I don't know who buys this ****. Is it all tourist business? But it's not a surprise most of those "boutiques" stay in business for 6 months. There's probably 5 stores that are "legitimate" on that strip, other than coffee bean & tea leaf.

Up in Northern California, they never have any worthwhile new stores.

The most exciting thing was a Barneys NY, but those are opening up everywhere.

I also saw they were moving Prada to a new location.

A Barneys recently opened in Las Vegas at the Venetian's new addition, "Palazzo".

Along with Canali and a new Ralph Lauren store (not yet open), among others: http://www.palazzolasvegas.com/shoppes.aspx

Carrots opened up the last Fall which is supposed to be a nice store. I haven't had time to stop by yet though since its not in Union Square and I'm too lazy to head down to the financial district...

There is a new Barneys Co-Op opening in Glendale on Brand, in that new outdoor mall (a la Grove) they are opening this year.

When's The Americana supposed to open? I'm sooo looking forward to never going to Glendale again. If the traffic sucks because of the Galleria, imagine the nightmare with that thing.

I think the barricades say "Spring 2008"

and yea, we had dinner with some friends fri nite at Don Cuco, right there on Brand, and I thought the same...traffic will be a nightmare with both the Galleria and the Americana.

I wonder if the Barneys buyer will cater to the "local populace"

Jet? Nah...

Btw, never heard of Don Cuco's. I was surprised in Jan just how many new places have opened up on Brand north of Broadway. It was what, 10 years ago that the only places to eat were Fenderbender's (RIP), Mikoshki (RIP), and Damion's.
