So, I'm in the market for a vintage watch. I love timepieces from the 60's.

Two of them have my eye, and I can't decide between them. What do you guys think?

Watch#1: Vintage German watch (Mauthe) with manual wind movement. I dig the look, and it's a very slim and elegant (32mm wide) design. No idea of the movement quality or brand history, but it's not too expensive, so that's alright.

Watch#2: Vintage Longines Admiral with automatic movement. I can't decide whether I love or hate the two-tone face. It's a bit bigger at 35mm wide. It would be nice to have a gold (plated) watch, and this is definitely a unique design. I'd prefer automatic to manual, but I'm not crazy about the date function, as I'd have to reset that every time I take it out of the box. I wouldn't anticipate wearing this every day.

Put me down for voting for the Vintage Longines Admiral. Can't say I've seen a watch like that lately.

32 is VERY small. I would avoid that one for that reason alone. I like the 60's Hamiltons and Omegas, which shouldn't be too hard to find.

I like the vintage Longines also. If you're not sure about the two-tone face, though, why not wait until you find the "one"? EBay is silly with those things, and the variety is great. I'll bet that if you wait a week or two you'll find the perfect watch for your taste.

I think the Mauthe is much more elegant. I don't care for the Longines. That stripe does nothing for me. Besides, the Dauphine hands on the Muather along with the quasi pie-pan dial are much nicer than the pencil hands and vertically striped dial of the Longines. I have an Enicar of this period that I think is very beautiful.

Of the two I would go Longines but I would personally find a decent 50s or 60s Omega. I picked up my '58 Seamaster fairly cheaply on ebay in practically mint condition. I also have a vintage Longines but there's really no comparison.

I have no idea of their quality as a timepiece, but I much prefer the looks of the first one.
