Alright so I'm fairly new to this, have a few questions, I've always been a jeans & T-shirt or button up guy(note: at least I've been particular), I sort of like having a tinge of the retro 50ish vibe (no I'm not a greaser) looking to take everything to the next level, and well I'm tired of plaid button ups... I just got in a beautiful pair of RW Beckmans in the Cigar Featherstone color (I have a custom fit/made pair of Nick's boots and these actually rival them in fit & feel) Any way I've always just worn black nicks or Cons.
I guess my question is, what are some options, that will go along with my new boots and cuffed jeans as far as shirts, colors, syles? I have a few nice lighter color button ups that look great but It makes my torso look, well ...plain. Are there any go-to accessories other than a tie that I could take advantage of? By the way I am in shape, athletic build.

Hey thanks a lot guys!
I've already learned a lot here.

I'm sure being as this is my first post It will merit me some form hazing

Do you actually feel like you've learned a lot? Because it seemed like you signed up earlier today, lurked for about 30 minutes and then took the plunge to post based on other ill-fated first posts you'd seen here, making sure to adhere to forum norms. It's kinda simple, but it's not easy. Try stuff on. Check out mall brands, lurk here, experiment...and ultimately figure out what YOU think looks good on you. SF folk typically hate mall brands, but I personally find BR chinos and J Crew belts and button downs indispensable. It's because they fit me well and no other person on these forums is built quite like me nor has quite the same taste. For better or worse, you can't figure out what works for you by watching Bravo or TLC 'reality' TV.

Well, in antiphon to your impromptu smart ass remarks might I point out that below the poster name is a little tab stating the corresponding members join date. A veteran I am by no means, however I have spent more than 30 minutes following the forum. And I would gladly wear "mall clothes" before I would own a Television and/or subject myself to follow "reality tv".

If anything you said was sincere, I offer my apologies. I just don't understand why there would be a styleforum if it were all completely subjective with no proffered advice.

If you spent more than 10 minutes here you would know that people don't like it when noobs start new threads asking for advice. That is what the stickies are for.
