New SF member and not sure where to find the answer you're looking for? Have a quick question that doesn't belong in a current thread? Welcome, you found the right place.

This is a weekly thread where new users can ask quick questions and get a solid answer. If a thread already exists that would be more helpful, we will point you in the right direction. The only stupid question is the one that isn't asked.....so ask away!

South Florida native who is now going to law school in the frigid north. I've grown up wearing mainly shorts and jeans.
Out thrifting today for some good pants/shoes/etc.

Hi all!

My apologies if this is the wrong forum to be asking these questions, but I have two:

1) How do I prevent my blazer from getting these loose threads (see picture)? I've been getting a bunch lately.

2) How do I keep the bottom of my blazer from "crinkling" like bacon? Is this where a steamer would come in handy?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum @Nastradeemus . Are you sure that isn't lint on your jacket? If you don't have one already, you need a good garment brush. Kent makes a good one that you can get on Amazon for about $30. Your suits/jackets/trousers should be brushed after each wear. Nothing you can do about the wrinkled vent...it's just part of wearing your stuff. Let it hang for a few days and most of it should unwrinkle itself. Instead of steaming, you can always press that spot with a press cloth and iron.

It doesn't appear to be lint. Its string coming from the jacket itself. I pulled a few of the strings out, but I am concerned that it may ruin the jacket.

Just snip it rather than pull it.

Just joined a few days ago and am already finding this site helpful. After lurking in the shoe forums for a bit, I took the plunge and made my first online shoe purchase from Meermin. I'm now realizing this site has so much more to offer on other topics as well. Can you point me to any good guides on matching shirts and ties? Also, are there some good threads related to cufflinks? Thanks!

Google for matching shirts and ties on Styleforum. This also works for cufflinks.

Welcome to the forum, Ed. Here's a great guide to color combinations http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/clothing/style-tips/practical-color-help/ and here's a bunch of threads on cuff links http://www.styleforum.net/search/ne...=35&resultSortingPreference=relevance&output=

What brands offer a sleeker last than Allen Edmonds that are under $500? I'm in the market for a pair of semi-brogue shoes. I feel like Allen Edmonds strands are a little too boxy looking.

Carmina is right around $500. Great quality and some really nice lasts to choose from.

I tried to google this and to search the forum and I couldn't find an answer to what I assume is a very basic question. When looking at suits and sport coats online, the description often says "tailor-ready shoulders". What exactly does that mean?

@JC33 I have no idea what that means....it makes no sense. Link?
