New SF member and not sure where to find the answer you're looking for? Have a quick question that doesn't belong in a current thread? Welcome, you found the right place.

This is a weekly thread where new users can ask quick questions and get a solid answer. If a thread already exists that would be more helpful, we will point you in the right direction. The only stupid question is the one that isn't asked.....so ask away!

Do wool ties only come in skinny versions? I'm looking to add one to my collection, but after browsing around, I only see wool ties that are 2.5" in width. My preference is for a more standard tie width. Is there a manufacturing reason for this, or is it more for style?

Plenty of wool ties in standard widths from a wide variety of makers. There are a number of online stores/tie makers that are popular on this forum and carry wool ties in standard widths, including Sam Hober, Vanda Fine Clothing, Exquisite Trimmings, No Man Walks Alone, H.N. White, and Kent Wang (in no particular order, and apologies to any whom I've inadvertently left out).

Been a lurker on this site for quite a while, and inspired by this I have been trying to upgrade my wardrobe a bit. I recently bought a pair of Allen Edmonds Larchmont. Compared to what I used to wear (mostly Florsheims) these are much heavier, and the leather seems a bit harder, and by the end of the day it starts hurting a bit, specially on the little toe. My size across most brands is 11D. When I originally tried on the show it fit fine, the 11E ones felt too roomy.
Is this likely to loosen up a bit with some wear, and if so, are we talking day, weeks, months?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, if they are brand new give it some time (10 wears) and in few weeks they will be broken in nicely.

Thank you Murlsquirl. I'm also adding shoetrees hoping it might speed up the process.

Not really, but shoe trees should be in your shoes when you're not wearing them regardless.

I'm on the hunt to find some cable knit sweaters to tide me through the depths of winter. Any suggestions would be very welcome...

Hey guys, do you think you can help me with a fit check for shoes.

Bought my first pair of loafers from Nordstrom Rack for $160. I usually wear an 8.5 wide or 9 normal width, but got an 8.5 normal width since that's all they had. It kind of looks like it's bulging out on the left side of the left shoe and the right side of the right shoe. I've had a problem in the past where I wore 8.5 normal width leather shoes and the bulging ends up stretching the leather in that particular area which kind of looks weird. What do you guys think? Is there anything I can do to remedy the situation?

Notice left side of left shoe and right side of right shoe

Unworn

Thanks!

Doesn't look normal and unfortunately, I don't think there is much you can do with that pair. Shoe fit is a hard one to comment on because only the wearer knows how they feel, but I can visibly see what your talking about. You just need to try some other brands and/or lasts and find something that works for you.
