Received my "Master" Ferragamo loafers today (must stop ordering shoes online, but that's another topic)... tried them on. Look nice of course, but, funny thing, the width is fine, the length is fine, but on my right foot only (i'm right legged), it's a wee bit tight around the top of my foot (closer to my ankle than toes). It's not unbearable by any means, but not sure how it will be to walk in for any great distance. However, I assume this area of a loafer will tend to break in over time. If I were to return them and get the wider-size, I assume the whole shoe balloons out and not merely width?

Walk in them around the house for the whole day (you have to be on your feet too, not just sitting in a chair) and if they're still slightly uncomfortable take them to a cobbler and ask him to stretch the right shoe in that spot. That should take care of it.

Not exactly a plausible option for those of us that live in less fertile retail areas.

I have a pair of made-to-order Monk strap by JM Weston that I'm no longer able to wear for the very same reason. Fitted perfectly 6 years ago but now upper left foot is killing me in spite of an additional hole to the strap...will be put regretfully on the market pretty soon ...

How did you make out with your master being tight around the top of your right foot. I purchased a pair and have he same problem. Tight on top. Length is fine, 9.5. Width seems a little tight on only my right foot, EE. Love the shoe but not sure where to go from here. How long does it take to break them in? Should they feel this way? I have three other pairs that are fine.....a little disappointed with this pair. Any help is appreciated.

Put thick socks on and wear them around the house. After a few wears they'll stretch and fit well. I had to do the same thing to a pair of Testoni's I ordered online.

All of you should piss off and be glad your don't have the opposite problem. My foot is so flat and narrow that I need an A width to get a somewhat secure fit. You don't just walk into a store and find a 13 A. You people make me sick flaunting your average feet and stylish leather shoes. Call the WAAAAAmbulance

On a less aggressive note, leather stretches, so stretch that ****. Like glasses, a slight stretch can make a huge difference in comfort.Your foot is soft and malleable (because you're composed of flesh [which is mostly water {which is molecules}]). You can use a shoe horn to get a little leverage and pull. A tight pack with a thick paper might also do the trick. Just take care to ensure the stitching maintains integrity.

Shoe stretchers are a good investment, can be had on eBay for about $20. Don't use them often, but have saved the day for me, wife, or kids 3 or 4 times now.

Good info. I have developed tightness around the top of my right foot within the last couple of years. I hope that stretching the shoes will solve the problem. Thanks!

^ You're welcome, yeah, they can help as your kids grow out of shoes and give you a little more leeway when ordering on-line. You can maybe stretch a shoe 1/2 size, and you can do some targeting of certain spots on the shoe.
