Bengal-Stripe: You must be a private investigator in your spare time.To all the fully paid-up members of the Imelda-Club, wanna hear the good news or the bad news first? Good news these shoes are made by Edward Green on last 32. At some point (maybe after the ****-up with Lobb) they begun to give all their shoes consecutive numbers, this one at 6252 is a very early one, I would guess about mid 1990s. (At present they are in the late 50 or early 60k range.) I have two pairs from that period one pair made for Paul Stuart (5305) and one for Degand in Brussels (5702). The actual shoes are different from the catalogue picture, they have an "Adelaide" throat, while the catalogue picture is a standard semi-brogue. The last 32 is somewhat smaller than the current replacement 202. The bad news: I rather doubt they are Russia calf. EG shoes of that period used different leather from today with a tendency to crease. The leather for my Paul Stuart shoes looks very similar. I believe the shoes are made from the standard box-calf they used at the time. I presume the seller did not buy the shoes in the first place, and looking through the current day catalogue, thought the Russia calf had the most resemblance.
