New & Lingwood E fitting shoe trouble

Just received these New and Lingwood punched cap oxfords. They are a UK 9.5E I am usually a UK 9.5F although since Church's was taken over by Prada I am also wearing UK 9Gs.

My problem is this, I fit in these shoes fine, the only trouble I have is the fact that the laces are spread apart quite a bit, and the two flaps the laces run through separate quite widely to accomodate my wider foot.

I have attached a photo of me wearing the shoe, and would like to hear your opinions on this, does the wide parting look silly or is it ok?

I dont believe there is anything 'wrong' with the way those shoes fit. If you like the way it looks, don't worry about it! It seems to me that this sort of thing is down to personal preference.

I agree about the socks: that's an elegant dress shoe and should be worn with fine hose, in either merino wool or cotton lisle.
Use those chunky socks with chunky, sporty shoes.

Once you've changed the socks, the lacing should come maybe 1/8" (3 mm) closer together. After you've worn the shoes for a while,
the "throat" section will stretch even further and you'll end up with the ideal gap of 3/8" (10 mm) on top of the quarters.

Personally, I do not like the wide gap. Do all oxfords fit you like this? If not, I'd go for a different last/brand.

it's hard to tell if those are laced tight since you haven't even successfully tied a bow.

that said, the gap looks a little wide to me. It's to the point where it is deforming the upper slightly. I would put on some thin socks, lace it tight, and see if it is comfortable. If it is, then you have nothing to worry about other than aesthetics.

if it is only aesthetic, you have to make your own call.

They are laced tight. Please enlighten me as to succesfully tying a bow.
Aesthetics was what I was trying to get at it doesn't look that great, a small gap is ok but I feel this might be too wide.
