Heard today that RL is coming out with a new line of suits to be positioned in between Blue and Black label, though it will technically be Blue label. It will have a slimmer fit, wider lapels, bolder patterns, and roped shoulders (though supposedly still soft). Price will be around $1600-$1900, and I got the impression that they would be fully canvassed. Not sure on a maker, but I would not be surprised if it is Caruso, as they are now even doing some Purple Label garments. Seems like they are reintroducing the "signature label" in a way, so something to look forward to. I also like the idea of a wider lapel.

They have now introduced a new line of made in italy "purple label" shoes priced at $1000+. Not sure if this means they are moving away from EG, but there were several models. They appeared to be the from the same maker as the lower-line Italy shoes, Sesto Meucci (had similar construction, including three nails in the toe), though the quality should obviously be a step up. Most had significant antiquing, though the sole treatment is not the same fiddleback/beveled construction as the EGs.

My brother was in the other day and was told that the MTM program does still allow you to do a MTM signature although I haven't heard of such a thing. They were beautiful suits.

Is this finally proof of the maker of the Italian shoe maker for RL?

Ralph suits could use some with slightly wider lapels. They're a bit too skinny right now (even on Polo/PL). I hope they don't go Nixon-era wide--which is probably exactly what they'll do. Sweet.
