New leather shoes look worn?

I bought a new pair of Cole Haan Lucarno Cap toe from the store, but they ordered it online for me because they didn't have the particular model in stock. When the shoe arrived in the mail, the right shoe looked like the leather piece was old, and the insole was also older looking the the other.

At first, I thought they must have given me a store display model (and i still kind of think that way), but it has never been worn (no creases where you would find the first step).

I was wondering: should I go back to the store and return it and ask them to send me a new pair? The shoes cost 365+tax, and I feel like they should be brand new. However, I also feel that the moment I wear them, it'll be so creased that it won't matter. Also, perhaps this is 'natural' part of a hand-made shoes? that no shoe looks like?

I don't have any pics, but the basic idea is that the top part of the shoe, where the laces are, is noticeable wrinkly upon inspection.

Suggestions? tearing my hair out trying to decide whether to exchange.

This sounds like they are not 100% OK. If you paid full retail I would go for another pair or they should offer price reduction.

Finally it is as you said. After wearing them it is not noticable.
