new jacket breast pocket question

Ordered my first item, a jacket, from chan last week. When I said that I would like patch pockets, I was surprised when asked if I wanted all three done as patch.

I have never seen a coat with a (not sure what you call it) traditional, breast pocket with two patch pockets at the hips.

I always assumed that the pockets should always match... Does anyone use this other configuration?

By the way, I ordered a light grey herringbone harrison moonbeam -- the experience was a very positive one.
