Hi has anyone got some info on the upcoming Interpol album, such as what the sound will be like? I remember reading they've gone back to a Turn Off The Bright Lights type of sound.

Did you d/l the new song "Lights" that they gave away on their Web site? Good stuff - if the rest of the album is like that, it would be an improvement over the last couple of albums in my opinion.

At this point they've released Lights and Barricade as singles. Both are good, but I especially like Barricade. There are some other new songs that they're playing live now--Summer Well and Success. Summer Well is great--probably my favorite of the new songs I've heard.

I think every new Interpol record is going to be saddled with comparisons to TOBL. It's like how every KISS record is the new Destroyer. One way that it does return to the TOBL vibe, though, is that Carlos D's bass is up a little further in the mix and his parts are a little funkier than on OLTA.

I have to say, though, that I'm one of the few Interpol fans who think that OLTA is a great record. Pioneer to the Falls, Pace is the Trick, and Lighthouse are at least as good as the best stuff on TOBL, in my opinion.

I hope this doesn't disappoint, unlike OLTA.

Antics was the dumbing down of Interpol's sound into accessibility- but atleast it was enjoyable to listen to. OLTA is about as uninspired as it is contrived.

I must have been sleeping for the last months or so then!! Gotta go and listen to the new singles straight away then. BTW I agree on OLTA being a solid record, definitely richer than Antics.

I thought the closing track on Antics was the best of the album.

Is there a replacement yet or are they gonna use sessionmen and touring musicians?

David Pajo is replacing him on tour. He's not a member of the band, though. Based on some interviews I vaguely remember, I think the band has not ruled out making him a member at some time in the future.

^^ never really saw Pajo as a bassist, might be interesting if he actually becomes an official member though. That guy is a legend.
