I picked up a copy of the December issue today, mostly because I was happy to find an English magazine (I'm currently living in Finland). 3 things in particular caught my eye so I decided to post them here.

First up is the new Thomas Pink "Mogul" - the company has declared that what's best for your breast pocket is a cigar. As a result, this new shirt features a pocket just big enough to hold a stogy. Picture is attached. I find it tacky. What are your thoughts? On the shirt or company in general...

Second: Duchamp, a company I've never heard of, is opening a new flagship store in London. Does anyone know about their quality? There web site has some fairly interesting products - www.duchamp.co.uk

Ok this is has nothing to do with style or clothing, but there was an article in the magazine about "the Untouchables" - hot sauces that cause blisters, invoke panic attacks, and have the potential to be deadly. Tobasco sauce scores 2,500 on the Scoville Scale (a rating scale for chili heat) while "the Untouchables" score up to 13,000,000! Has anyone ever come into contact with these sauces? I'd love hear some stories if you have. I really enjoy spicy, hot foods, but these sauces sound too intense for me...

Extremely dumb. They will probably be popular with low-level 20-something investment bankers to go with their Gucci bit loafers

Bought that issue of GQ to read on the plane home for Thanksgiving.

The Pink shirt should be logo'd with the scarlet letter A for assh#le.

Duchamp is a brand of boldly patterned shirts and ties that I expect is riding the 'dandy' fashion wave of several years ago. I like some of them but would only buy at a steep discount.

No opinion on chili sauce. Given the history of bland british cuisine, the UK palate may be more sensitive to this stuff than ours.

mack, is it just me or does the UK version have far more nudity in it? I don't read the Americam GQ that often, but I certainly don't recall seeing that much skin.

I've bought several Duchamp ties from Nordstrom Rack. Very well-made. The patterns are quite stunning as well. I've been wanting a Duchamp shirt for quite some time. I've searched on eBay, but don't want to pay $40 to ship the blasted thing over from the UK. Hoping a decent one pops up from the US sometime in the near-distant-future.

For the sauces, I think at that heat level it's less about making a tasty sauce and more of the maker just trying to see how hot they can make something. I doubt if you tried the sauces you would recognize any 'taste' at all - just your tongue going numb and killing itself.

It does! I keep forgetting about that when I take the UK GQ to a coffee shop to read. I'm good at turning pages quickly now, though.
