1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Several members have expressed interest in a streetwear/denim discussion board. Rather than have them leave to start one and divert all your attention, I thought we could concentrate discussion here in a separate forum. It is complementary to the Men's Clothing board which will remain open to all clothing topics. However, posting here on denim/streetwear questions may keep your topic from getting pushed down by the more esoteric discussions in MC. Brian SD and LA Guy have agreed to lead this forum, and I want to thank them for their help with that and their contributions in general to the forum. [IMG] Welcome.

BTW, feel free to bump streetwear-related threads in MC that you think should be moved here.

In principle, they would belong in the men's clothing forum, but in fact, those posts would actually probably be more appropriate here.  Maybe we should change the name of this forum to Casualwear, Designerwear, and Denim, and the *other* forum name to Tailored and business clothing and footwear

Streetwear is actually a term used in the fashion industry to describe "urban", i.e. hip hop styled, clothing, although the term is not generally used that way in common parlance.

I don't think that would be a good idea. One of the most important segments of bespoke and designer clothing is Casual Wear.

Streetwear and Denim is less Casual Wear and more a style of dress. The fact that there are designers catering to the type of clothes discussed in Mens Clothes as well as designers who cater to this forum is one very good reason not to change the name of either.

Yea streetwear isn't necessarily the perfect term, but it's probably the closest we could get. The way I see it, Yohji Yamamoto suits would belong in MC, Y-3 in SW/Denim.

You guys want to nail down a subtitle for this forum? I started one but I couldn't/still can't think.

They all start with "Discuss ..."

Now that is a truly pimp suit. And anyone who can pull that off (that dude is doing a pretty good job) is really pimp.

Those spectators are totally Trad. My girlfriend signed me up for International Male, and I'm having a helluva time getting off their marketing list. Their underwear catalogue is... disturbing.
