1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Filene's today just opened a new fairly large store in Rockville MD on the corner of Rockville Pike and Montrose.

Pickings were pretty bad (alright, they were awful). Two or three styles of Allen-Edmonds for $199. Some Brunu Magli cap toes for $199. They had some nice Hickey Freeman suits for $599. Some Hickey shirts for $59 (I think). Some Valetino suits for $599 that felt fused. And three or four types of Pantherella socks for $12. And that's all folks.

The place was filled with Hilfigers and the clientele to match. Wasn't worth the trip.

Sounds as pitiful as the National Press selection usually is. There used to be a Filene's up there on Rockville Pike. I think it closed about 4 years ago when Filene's filed for Chapter 11.
