I am Jonas and together with my colleague Johannes I founded the watch brand TOMHOLM after intensive planning in January this year. Our first model, 'Novum', is available online on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter since the 22nd of October. We are overwhelmed by the initial reactions, with only 2% left from our funding target.
Our goal is to establish ourselves as a microbrand - we want to offer timeless pure sapphire crystal watches with a clean design at a fair price, which will make our customers happy for a long time due to their reliable premium components.
As a newly graduated student and first time employee, we can not afford the necessary investment alone, so from the beginning we decided to fund our Novum through a crowdfunding campaign.
It is clear to us that our target group are not collectors of automatic watches. With our first model, we want to appeal to those who, like us two years ago, are looking for an affordable sapphire crystal watch that promises a high standard of quality and captivates with its elegant design.
After hundreds of sketches, 3D visualizations, 9 prototypes and 2 years of development and planning, we are now close to production and are dependent on a strong community. We appreciate any kind of support to make our project and dream a reality.
But now, the specifications:
We wanted to offer a fashion watch for about 150 €, that is affordable for students and co.. We ordered 9 prototypes from different manufacturers worldwide. After a lot of research, we believe that the best value for our customers is a mix of components from Japan, Germany and China. We have tested our watches intensively (you can find videos of product tests on our website) and the following components have more than convinced us:
