I've sniffed only one: Amber Pour Homme. Not for me. How about the rest of you? Which ones have you tried?

Well, at the rate that fragrances are introduced these days, it's difficult to keep up. Was really looking forward to L'Homme, which Joel Cairo described, as 'indistinct.' The Prada is a difficult fragrance, from my end at least. Am not a fan of their women's scent, either.

A recent offering from Hermes, called Terre d'Hermes, wasn't bad. Nothing like their earlier fragrances, though. Wan, by contrast.

I just bought Terre d' Hermes. I love it. I also tested some Citron Citron by Miller Harris which is quite pleasant. The Hermes lasts longer on my skin, so i boought a bottle.
Seems as though I'm on the hunt for an elegant citrus
fragrance. There are several other options I will post on as they come in.

I'm glad that Terre D'Hermes, worked for you!! I finally got a sample . . .

By chance, have you ever tried Signoricci? That's the most elegant citrus / woodsy scent I've ever used. I've never experienced anything else, like it. Another one I really love, is Dior Eau Fraiche. Mandarin, rosewood, honey. A Roudnitska compilation. Very high style.

An elegant citrus being worn now, both by men and women, is another Roudnitska formula: Diorella. A little more spice and leather to this one, but magnificent.

See, those sound wonderfull. This is frustrating getting into the frangrances! I need to have aplace sample tons of them. I feel an expensive and extensive hobby coming on!

designprofessor, they ARE wonderful! You can find these fragrances, online. But you have to know where to look. Best place for Signoricci: Imagination Perfumery. Eau Fraiche has become very difficult to come by: 99 perfumes.com, is best. Diorella is readily available online: Scentiments.

You might enjoy the new L'Homme, which is based on citrus . . . not sure, according to what one basenoter, had to say. Personally, I am crazy about Zanzibar, from Van Cleef and Arpel . . . the drydown on this fragrance is positively superb. It too has citrus, sparked by spices and seeds. Exciting, office appropriate, all occasion scent.

The new Burberry (in the tan tartan) is actually called Burberry London. The former Burberry London (red tartan) is now just called Burberry. Very confusing. I can't help but think it is a nefarious plot by Burberry to get some spillover sales of the old Burberry London by tricking people into thinking they are buying the new Burberry. But maybe I'm just jaded. I quite like the old Burberry London, vauguely boozey but still quite delicate. I'm very excited for the new Burberry, which by all acounts is rich and lush, great autumnal stuff. YSL L'Homme is, indeed, disappointing. Personally, I hold YSL to a higher standard than most designer houses, as they tend to be very adventurous (usually to the detriment of their sales. Hence L'Homme soul-less mass-appeal). I agree that Prada Amber isn't much to write home about. Its very pleasant, but my dresser is too crowded to warrant a space for something I know I'll never reach for. I quite like Terre d'Hermes as well. Hermes has built up a reputation for robust scents (Equipage and Rocobar spring to mind. Now That's The Smell of a Man!), and by comparison, Terre d'Hermes is a bit more soft-spoken. A bit more unisex and, yes, a bit "wan". The perfumer, Jean-Claude Elena is known for his minimalist compositions, and considering that the last 25 years have seen a turn in the men's fragrance market from the Manly (see Drakkar Noir's popularity in the 80s) to the Acquatic (see Acqua di Gio's continued reign of terror), hiring him to revamp the house image may well have been a good move by Hermes. It doesn't mean its a great artistic move. Hermes, like YSL, is now following rather than leading. Ive heard Ellena's light, citric style dismissively boiled down to a "signature dishwater accord", but I think it works with Terre d'Hermes. It has a mineral freshness to it, reminds me of dew on a cold cobblestone at dawn. Nonethless, its pretty formulaic, an I'd like to see something with a bit more oomph... hence my excitement for Burberry London. Leather & Brandy? Bring it on!

Joel, offthread, but have you ever smelled CIALENGA? It's by Balenciaga. Made for women, but deeply, deeply rich, with brandied fruits and leather and greens. I do not wear it. My favorite perfume for women. Highly recommended. Discontinued, of course . . . but still available, online.

Yeah it is. Well, new or old, I know the name of it is Weekend. I LOVE Burberry's Touch. It is magic. Has anyone tried Weekend?

I was at Nordstrom this weekend and the lady there said that they would not be carrying it. No explanation was offered.
