Typically, I am a very mild supporter of mall stores for formal fashion, but I went into Express yesterday and tried on some of their new shirts and pants, and was surprisingly impressed. They have a whole new line of striped dress cotton shirts that, actually, look pretty nice. Of course you have to deal with the roughness and unsightly rolls and crinkles in certain areas, but these are surprisingly nice shirts - for $45 or less, anyhow. The shirt colors tend to be very bold, with similar arrangements in striped Paul Smith and Dolce & Gabbana shirts. So, enough with the happy-chat. Now, I know that as soon as something hits Express or GAP, it's just about out of style. I have a black Express dress shirt that serves surprisingly well as a casual button-down, and I was considering picking up one or two of their new shirts for casual wear, but before I go out with my card, I just wanted to gather some general opinions on this. Now, fashionable males, please express yourselves (no pun intended). Any criticism is appreciated on this, I would really like to know, if from a higher standpoint, these shirts should be outlawed even for casual wear. You can check out the shirt patterns at http://www.expressfashion.com/ - when the flash site loads, click on the "Must haves: men" on the top bar. Thank you for reading.
