i just got an email from what appeared to be a real shopper on ebay. normally the emails are obvious in their fakeness and if you put your pointer on the link you can see it's a redirect thing. this time it was using a real listing i had, so i just went to click on it. luckily it didn't pull up, but it was the first time i've seen someone fake email using a real current listing. just an fyi

this is good to know, thanks.

also i have seen this happen to me a few times (it may be the same person over and over again)

but for some reason the auctions i bid on, even though i have been overbid , an email is sent to me asking for a second chance offer pay and to pay them.

sometimes, even when the auction still is going, the email comes that i won and i should pay them.

i guess someone there is watching what i am bidding on and then fabricating a email to have me paypal them something.

Yeah those are so annoying... I get them all the time! One auction for a pair of shoes that went for over $400 I had only bid $4 on (to lock in my bid so it would show up in "my ebay") and then after the auction ended, the fake email (from Romania? Nigeria?) actually said I could have them for my last bid ($4!) since the winning bid fell through...

There are so many red flags, but them wanting you to pay through Western Union is a big one...
