Just passed by a building on Lasalle and Adams (near the big Brooks) and saw a sign that Paul Stuart is coming soon. Will that be in addition to the Townhouse? Or is it moving?? Anybody know?

How big is the store front? Can't imagine Chicago can support 2 PS locations. I smell a moving sale, G&G at 70% off!

Gawd I hate living in the worthless sticks. Nothing but Macy's, JC Penneys, and Men's Wearhouse within 150 miles. I would actually appreciate having a Jos. A. Banks here because it would mean having a place to try on AE and other tolerable shoes.

To take it back sort of on-topic,

My impression is that there is some growth and such recently in the Men's clothing industry, which must be a good thing.

Oak Street is a much classier location, I'd be surprised if they close the Townhouse in favor of a Loop store.

I was disappointed with the Chicago Paul Stewart store. Maybe I have been spoiled by their store in New York, which I pop into a few times a year whenever I'm in Manhattan on business. Was in Chicago a few months ago with time to kill so I decided to "go-Stewart" and found their inventory to be very, very limited.

The George Greene store down the street from Stewart, however, was a pleasant discovery. Small inventory there as well but ... my God, what wonderful cashmere ties! The tailored stuff was also amazing but too pricey for me. If I'm going to spend that money (and I sometimes do), I'll go bespoke. But if you're not a "bespeaker," I'd do my business there.

I feel ya. I remember living in Iowa during my youth (junior high through the first couple of years out of college). Nothing but dreck and nowhere - absolutely nowhere - to go to buy decent clothes. Road trips to Omaha were similarly worthless. Thank God I live on the east coast.

Well, there's always online shopping, which didn't exist back in my stone-age youth.
