I ruined a tie the other day, hazard of my working envoirnment, happens. In my haste to buy a cheapie beater tie to replace it on E bay. I scored a Canali that looked like it may do the job.

The tie arrived and has gone back to the seller!!

Some pix for your consideration.

The Yellow Canali tie is from Harry Rosen in Montreal.
The burgundy tie is from a new seller on E bay.

Note the way the silk is woven where the name Canali is embroidered.

The stay is made from silk, in a full loop, folded and sewn to the tie.

The stitch linking the two sides:

Did the seller knowingly sell you the fake or was it simply a matter of nonfamiliarity with Canali? I have the same gold tie and it's always worn well. I'm a big fan of Canali fancy-patterns and simple, geometric floral dots.

There was no mistake made,
the seller knows exactly what she is selling
the same Boss, DG, Canali and Zegna ties over and over again.
So far only one negative feed back!

I'm a touch confused by this thread, is the tie supposed to be fake?

I own two Canali ties, both purchased at Henry Bucks, and both have the keeper loop and logo embroidery as in the yellow tie. They're not fakes.

edit : oh I get it now. The burgundy tie is the spurious one. Shows how much attention I was paying (It's too early!)

Thank you for taking the time to post pics. The red one is obviously a fake Canali. Please post the seller's eBay ID so everyone knows to avoid him/her.

thanks so much for this Zegnamtl. I often browse canali ties on ebay, as I've heard good stuff and listings are always plentiful, but I've never pulled the trigger as there seem to be so many fakes reported, and the little details seem to vary so much auction to auction. This will prove a very handy guide.

To those with firstnahd knoweldge: do all real canali ties conform to the example posted, or is there some degree of label, keeper, etc variance among them?

Yes, I've had/seen lots of Canali and I would say that from the last 5 years at least they ALL look like that. The only exception is the higher end Canali Exlusive Collection ties that are either self-tipped or have purple tipping and have "Canali Exclusive Collection" woven in a square on the narrow blade.

This seller, lizstyle972, should at least be reported through the Ebay system.

She's selling knock off Canali, Versace, D & G, Brioni, Zegna, Boss, Behar, Fendi, etc.

Ebay usually doesn't do much, but if there are enough complaints they might look at it.

And you do not have to be the winner of one of her auctions to make a complaint. Anyone can report a counterfeit.

Here's her Ebay inventory

I reported her auctions.

All you have to do is scroll down to the bottom of the listing and you'll see "a report this listing" link, and you'll be walked through it.

At least 2 SF people have been screwed. Maybe we can help some others.

Go to her listings and report these counterfeits.
