Hello All, new member here. I would like to treat myself to a new pair of boots. All of mine are about 35-50 years old and have been extremely well kept and cared for, some resoled, and I wear them all rotating regularly. "Vintage" styling is back! I guess classics never die, and I am looking to purchase a pair that will give me the dress up and down factor with a nod toward ruggedness. Broad field and vaugue "question" I know- please forgive me that, but all input will be greatly appreciated.

Alden Indys.
Rancourt (anything).

Check them out, either decision would be a good start.

Shoebank.com provides some price-friendly options that are still in the better quality category. How about sharing some pictures of your patina-ed boots? 35-50 year old boots? Love it...please share!

Will do. Have to get a quantity of hay loaded and offloaded, then I'll see what pic posting on this forum is like.

By the way Bagley, are the shoes available via shoebank.com seconds?

Yes, they are. I own plenty and boots get beat up so have never had any issue with seconds.

Allenedmonds.com clearance is another price friendly source.

A few others to check out…

Alden Indy (already mentioned):

White's Semi Dress:

White's Bounty Hunter:

Viberg Service Boot:

Truman (look almost identical to a Viberg):

White's MP (also look similar to a Viberg):

Oak Street Bootmakers:

Wesco Hendrik (just ordered a pair myself; available in various leathers and with a dress cap toe (see "Axe Breaker" below):
https://www.wescoboots.com/builder/MensCustomBoot.aspx?id=Hendrik

The Hendrik is also available in a special run as the "Axe Breaker" from S&S:
https://www.heddels.com/2018/06/standard-strange-x-wesco-axe-breaker-horsehide-boot/

Nicks: Check out the Falcon and the Ranger. Made to order*, you can get them in various leathers and toes, including a dress toe cap.
https://nicksboots.com/shop/casual-boots/

If you like a moc toe, check out Russell and Quoddy:
http://www.russellmoccasin.com/boots/
https://www.quoddy.com/collections/mens/boots

* I should mention that you can get Wesco's and (AFAIK) White's made to order as well. And given that you can get them MTO, those vendors may have other boots that would work well for you. For instance, an 8" Wesco Jobmaster with 7 oz. leather and a lugged sole is a no-nonsense work boot. But build a 6" Jobmaster with 5-6 oz leather, a dress toe cap and, say Vibram 269 soles, and you've got a great very high quality casual go-anywhere boot.

Was going to pull the trigger on at least one pair of Allen Edmonds Rainiers, possibly a pair in each color offered. Anybody have them for size advice. I'm a very solid 10 by measurements, so 9.5 and 10.5 are usually doable. But 10s that are true to size always fit me. Anyone have these boots?
