I'm still in the very beginning stages of seriously upgrading my footwear. I'm on the verge of hopefully making partner at my firm and have just recently realized that my Bostonian/Johnston & Murphy footwear is really not doing it for me. Let's not even get started with the Brooks Brothers Outlet suits I've been getting along with so far. Anyway, I've started with a pair of black Allen & Edmunds Park Avenues and they look quite nice (though I've just learned on this forum that I'm not taking care of them like I should). I need a pair of brown shoes now that I can rotate with my black Park Avenues, and really like these:

Also, I just noticed that Allen Edmunds has a new line of shoes made in Italy called their "Seven" line. They really look outstanding, but they're also a bit pricier and I've not heard anybody talk about them. http://www.allenedmonds.com/webapp/w...0001&langId=-1

Allen-Edmonds' photography notwithstanding, the Bel Air is a very handsome shoe. Over on The Fedora Lounge, a member with a shop in Minneapolis (Marty) posted photos of the Bel Air in Walnut calf. Stunning. Be sure to try it on (it's on a different last than the Park Avenue and so will fit differently), but if you like it, I say go for it.

I've never seen the Seven line in person, so I can't comment on that.

There was a better picture of the Bel Air in Walnut on the site up until yesterday, but for some reason it's gone. This one is small, but a better picture.

How embarassing. And on my first post as well.

Does anybody have any comments about the Seven line of Allen Edmonds?

I have a pair of Bel Aires in suede. They are nice, but they run slightly larger than my other AEs in 9D. Not enough to size down, but since it is a blucher, the "flaps" don't have much, if any, gap in between them.

I have been on quite a suede shoe kick lately, but now that I see a pic in calf, I wish I would have gone that route.

And I paid less than $150 for seconds on the Bay.

I've had the Bel Air's in my shop for a few months now. They are my best selling Allen Edmond shoe. The new Seven "Tresana" in cabernet brown is the only shoe that's better looking (in my opinnon). It's a very well fitting shoe.

I managed to get the Bel Air in walnut. It is a very handsome shoe that looks much better in person than in any photo. You cannot go wrong in getting these.

Like all the new AEs, these look unbalanced to me.

Talk about any early thread of mine coming back from the dead. Since I started this thread, I ended up buying a few pair of Borgioli and Martegani at Franco's here in town at a great deal.

I'd be interested to know what you gentlemen mean by "unbalanced"? Are you refering to the elongated toe?
Thanks,
Marty

I love the replies there. "From a female perspective, I'd notice the Wendells coming down the street." Those Wendells are absolutely offensive to look at. Once again, WNBMCMBMC.

I agree tht the walnut BelAir are beautiful.

Not the toe per we. But out of proportion. The facings seem short and too far back, which makes the front half seem to long. Compare them with a traditional long wing like the MacNeil.
