    Hey there all...
It’s come to my attention that I can’t wear sweat pants at this function and that I need to attend in order to "see and be seen" as a result of my increasing numbers from my travel company and how people are "watching me". I don’t know what they are watching? Reason being is because I still have yet to relish in my sales success because those checks are not in yet lol.
Anyways I was at Banana Republic the other day and often go there to find the once or twice a year full outfit. I saw that everything they have is something I already own with maybe with a new and slight modification.
Cool looking yet classy men’s hats, sweaters, khaki slacks, scarves and such. What I don't have is a nice men’s bag to carry on a daily basis and sometimes I ask myself...Why bother? I mean it’s just my blackberry and at most a note pad, pen and some prescriptions of all I can keep in my pockets as I carry my portfolio w/pad inside no?

This event is taking place in a cooler time of year on a ship in the Hudson River, so I guess it maybe drafty if I’m on the deck. As travel consultant I work from my desk often in sweats and cut off t shirts selling these high end travel trips to clients. I know luxury and I know brands but I fluctuate so much in weight/size from working out that it’s hard to always have the right fit from time to time.

When at Banana I purchased a new men’s trench coat in tan with the beautiful and obvious want to be Burberry checkerboard if the collar is flipped. I couldn’t resist because it’s got a nice wool liner and I always wanted the Burberry but A) can’t afford it B) If I can managed to afford it I hardly have nice clothes to wear it with, and where am I going? (Well no I actually am going). Also I feel like it looks like I may go streaking! lol And although it fits great I kind of think it maybe needs to brought in a bit in the back? I feel like it makes me look fat and I am in good shape. Also I noticed men typically neatly tie them in the back but then I don’t like it that way. I am a bit of a feminine guy so I really enjoy the posh and cute tie in the front as it brings in the waist too.

I really don’t know what type and color pants to wear...I don’t know if a sports coat will fit under the trench and I also don’t know what shirt to wear under the sports coat and I really don’t know what else to do. Personally I really don’t even want to wear a sports coat. I really the look of a classic mens outfit with a modern and fem appeal that’s snug in certain areas and that highlights by body well. I imagine that I will remove the jacket to sit in on conferences and at lunch and then again at the cocktail bar.

I always get hot when I wear blazers and I wonder if the tweed blazer I have would even fit under the trench coat? I thought maybe a nice Burberry polo too? Or maybe a different high end brand that I will have to charge on my credit card till I get paid L Then I thought maybe a polo is not good enough to be on board this several million dollar ship. I am really excited but I’m afraid people will see right past my want to be Burberry and mismatched outfit lol.

Can anyone help? I also have another ship event in Florida for December 2012 that heads to warmer climates of the Caribbean. For this one I am stumped too. I really need some suggestions and advice on where to shop, how to buy it, what to spend and how to make it my own while being completely comfortable, practical and right for the occasions.

Just start with the basics: wool slacks in navy and charcoal. Ideally, slim cut with no pleats.

    White undershirts.

Light blue & white long sleeve dress shirts. Don't bother with french cuffs since you're not in a dressy situation.

V neck sweater in burgundy or royal blue. Good stand in for a sports coat.

Brown belt. Brown leather shoes - captoes preferably.

For the Caribbean, replace the dress shirts with polo shirts and the wool slacks with chinos.

Don't be too caught up with brands - fit is everything. You might need the services of a tailor to take in the shirt waists and trim the seat of the slacks.

A cruise ship is like a big yacht.

Go to Hugo Boss and buy a black suit, a dark blue shirt and a silver tie.

    And mirrored shades. Big ones.

    HI mate,
    If you are just starting.
Buy Light blue and white dress shirt.
    Pair of dressy khaki pants.
    Navy blazer with gold buttons.
Pair of walnut or brown wingtip shoes.
If you want to go a bit more. Get a V neck cardigan in grey or charcoal color and wear it under your blazer.
This is my favorite combo. I think this is fool proof.
    Good luck !
